It doesn’t matter where you live, there is something that you can appreciate about that specific area. For many people, it not only has to do with the amenities that may be available but it also has to do with the weather they experience as well. That is why those who live in the northern United States enjoy the spring and summer of the year but they don’t necessarily want to live through those harsh winters. At that point, Florida becomes quite desirable.
Florida is also difficult when it comes to the year-round weather. In the summer months, when it is at least somewhat pleasant up north, the temperature can be blistering hot in Florida. In the winter, however, while the rest of the country is dealing with snow, Florida is dealing with blue skies, lots of sunshine and pleasant weather. That is why many people decide that they want to live in two locations, depending upon the time of year. Those individuals are typically referred to as snowbirds.
It really can be to your advantage to live as a Snowbird in Florida. One of the basic reasons is what we had already discussed, the fact that you can enjoy the perfect weather conditions in both parts of the country. In addition, being a Snowbird once you retire allows you to take advantage of everything that the state of Florida has to offer. With so many retirees living within its boundaries, it tends to cater to the senior citizen.
Another benefit is the low price of insurance, although this is a bone of contention with many people who live in Florida year-round. In the southeast area of Florida, including Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties, you have some of the most expensive insurance in any part of the country. This is due to the many accidents, a lot of which are the fault of snowbirds. They don’t have to pay the high prices, because they can insure their car in a northern state for much less.
Of course, there are many reasons why you might want to consider becoming a Snowbird but one thing is certain, Florida is always going to be attractive to those who are standing in a lot of snow. Why not try visiting for an extended vacation this winter? You may just find that you want to stay for a while.
